Gordon Ramsay's first series with Channel 4 was in 1999

The F Word chef - whose current three-year deal runs until July next year - will develop a number of new shows with the broadcaster.

Under the new deal, Channel 4 will have exclusive rights to all Ramsay's UK television output until July 2011.

Ramsay, who returns with a second series of The F Word this month, said he was "very excited" about the deal.

"Channel 4 are the standard bearers when it comes to food programmes. They are vibrant, committed and tenacious," he said.

Cookbook amnesty

Both the BBC and ITV - who aired the TV reality show Hell's Kitchen, featuring Ramsay - were also reportedly keen to sign up the 39-year-old chef.

His previous shows with Channel 4 include Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and 1999's Ramsay's Boiling Point.

Channel 4 head of features, Sue Murphy, said they had "ambitious plans" for the outspoken presenter.

"He is hugely talented, the best at what he does, and is full of surprises. As such, Gordon and Channel 4 are a perfect fit."

The new series of The F Word returns to TV screens on 21 June.

The first programme will see Ramsay challenge the nation to cook Sunday lunch, and collect the pigs that he and his family will be rearing in their back garden throughout the series.

Ramsay will also launch a celebrity cookbook amnesty on the show.
