Daniels lasted just one day on the show |
Magician Paul Daniels and his wife and assistant Debbie McGee have become the first contestants to be voted off a celebrity version of the X Factor. They were among actors and TV and radio stars lining up to hit the right notes for charity in the ITV1 show.
Contestants still left include Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, ex-Coronation Street actress Nikki Sanderson, model Michelle Marsh and rugby player Matt Stevens.
The live final of X Factor: Battle of the Stars will take place on 5 June.
Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh are judging the singing acts.
They will also work as mentors to the celebrities, offering their music industry expertise in the hope of backing the winning performance.
Singing chefs
Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee, who performed Robbie Williams' song Let Me Entertain You, lost out to health guru Gillian McKeith in the first programme's showdown.
Other celebrities taking part include Lucy Benjamin, who starred as Lisa in EastEnders and James Hewitt and Rebecca Loos - both famous for newspaper kiss-and-tell stories.
The other contestants are a group of celebrity chefs - Aldo Zilli, Paul Rankin, Ross Burden and Jean-Christophe Novelli.
Nikki Sanderson played trainee hairdresser Candace Stowe in Coronation Street for five years before deciding to embark on a singing career.
There have been two non-celebrity versions of X Factor, with Steve Brookstein and Shayne Ward emerging as winners.
Brookstein scored one number one hit but was recently dropped from his recording contract.
