Singer Buble heads Canada's Junos
Michael Buble
Buble's It's Time was named pop album of the year
Jazz singer Michael Buble has won four prizes including best singer at the Junos, Canada's top music awards.

But it was host Pamela Anderson who made waves by calling for an end to seal hunts on Canada's east coast.

"I don't mind a little blood on the ice when it's a hockey rink, but I hate seeing blood on the ice when it's from baby seals," she told the audience.

Rock band Nickelback, who led the field with six nominations, took home prizes for best group and best rock album.

Buble dominated the ceremony, held in the city of Halifax in the province of Nova Scotia, with wins for best singer, album, artist and pop album.

Rock legend Neil Young - who was prevented from attending last year's ceremony by a brain aneurysm - earned trophies for best adult alternative album and best producer.

Coldplay and the Black Eyed Peas shared the international album of the year award, while Canadian rocker Bryan Adams was admitted into the Juno Hall of Fame.

Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Powter was named best new artist of the year.
