Canadian rock band Nickelback are leading their home country's Juno Awards, with six nominations. Nickelback, who became the first Canadian band in 30 years to enter the US chart at number one in 2005, are up for both album and single of the year.
Jazz musician Diana Krall and singer Michael Buble have five nods apiece.
Nominees are chosen on the basis of sales and votes from the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
International album
Veteran rock singer Neil Young is also a multiple nominee, appearing in three categories including best songwriter.
Nickelback, Buble and Krall will do battle in the best album category, along with Kalan Porter and Rex Goudie, the winner and runner-up from Canada's version of Pop Idol.
The awards, which chiefly honour Canadian artists, will be handed out in the city of Halifax on 2 April, at a ceremony featuring live performances from Nickelback and Brit Award winners Coldplay.
The British act have been nominated for best international album for X&Y, which won best album at the Brits on Wednesday.
Nickelback, from Alberta, became the first Canadian act to debut at the top of the US Billboard chart since Bachman-Turner Overdrive in 1974.
Their biggest UK hit was How You Remind Me, which reached number four in 2002.
