Chiles (r) also hosts Working Lunch and Match of the Day |
BBC One is preparing to launch The One Show, a live daily magazine programme that has drawn comparisons with the long-running Nationwide series. Adrian Chiles and Nadia Sawalha host the show, which includes interviews, factual features and topical stories.
Items in the first edition include an interview with Doctor Who assistant Freema Agyeman and a wildlife report about Devon's elusive red deer.
Chiles, however, has played down any similarities to the Nationwide format.
The One Show, he told Monday's Guardian newspaper, would comprise "lots of beautifully crafted films from all the BBC's various departments" and not the "skateboarding ducks" for which its predecessor was famous.

The programme will run for four weeks, beginning on Monday at 1855 BST.
Sawalha, a former member of the EastEnders cast, has become a daytime TV favourite after presenting the live programmes Loose Women and City Hospital.
Chiles' credits include appearances on Match of the Day, Working Lunch and The Apprentice - You're Fired.
Natural history presenter Kate Humble, history presenter Dan Snow and reporter Anna Adams will also host segments.
