Tenor Placido Domingo will perform at the Classical Brits, where he will receive a lifetime achievement award. Domingo said: "I'm truly delighted to be honoured with this very special award, and I look forward to returning to the Royal Albert Hall."
TV host Michael Parkinson will present the 4 May central London ceremony, which will also feature a performance by trumpeter Alison Balsom.
The singer is also doing six dates in May at the Royal Opera House, London.
He will appear in the lead role of Franco Alfano's production of Cyrano de Bergerac.
The annual Classical Brit Awards was founded in 2000 by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
BPI chairman Peter Jamieson said: "We are delighted that the great Placido Domingo, an artist who excels not just as a tenor but as a conductor, will be joining us."
Earlier this month it was announced that Domingo would remain general director of the Los Angeles Opera until 2011.
Last year singer Katherine Jenkins won the Classical Brit Awards' best album prize for Second Nature.
