Split Enz were indicted into Australia's music Hall of Fame last year |
Influential New Zealand band Split Enz are reforming after 20 years for an Australian stadium tour. Split Enz had a transatlantic hit with I Got You in 1980 and featured the late Paul Hester and Neil and Tim Finn, who went on to form Crowded House.
They will play five dates in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth from 7 June.
The Finn brothers have reunited with Eddie Rayner, Noel Crombie, Nigel Griggs and Malcolm Green for the tour.
New Wave
Part of the early 1980s New Wave movement, the flamboyant Split Enz had 13 line-up changes during their 12-year career.
In addition to the global success of I Got You They and the album True Colours, they secured numerous number one albums in Australia and New Zealand where they developed a cult following.
Tim Finn said the tour was suggested after the band reunited to play two shows in Melbourne last June, when they were inducted at the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame.
"There was an electricity there," he said, although he was uncertain whether a new studio album would emerge from the band's reunion.
Crowded House went on to have 12 UK hits including Don't Dream It's Over and Weather With You.
