Hester, who was in Split Enz with Neil and Tim Finn and in Crowded House with Neil, committed suicide last month.

The Finn Brothers played three nights at London's Royal Albert Hall last week before returning to Australia to attend Hester's funeral.

The brothers said Neil had been diagnosed with mental exhaustion and they were taking a four-week break.

All remaining dates of the European tour have been postponed and will be rescheduled. New dates will be announced in the next few days.

The Finns said: "Following the tragic events of the past two weeks, Neil Finn has been diagnosed as suffering from mental exhaustion and stress and is taking an immediate four-week break from touring on doctor's advice."

They were due to play in Portsmouth next week before moving on to Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, France and Spain.

Hester, 46, was found hanged in a park in Melbourne. He was last seen alive on the night of 25 March when he left his home with his dogs.

Ambulance officers said he had "attempted suicide" and died from strangulation. He was already dead when they arrived at the scene.
