Lohan starred in Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and Herbie: Fully Loaded |
US actress Lindsay Lohan, currently in hospital after suffering an asthma attack, has told a magazine she dabbled in drugs and was fighting bulimia. "I knew I had a problem and I couldn't admit it," the 19-year-old Mean Girls star told Vanity Fair magazine.
"I was sick and I had people sit me down and say 'You're going to die if you don't take care of yourself'."
Lohan said she had used drugs "a little". She was "resting comfortably" after her asthma attack on Monday.
In the interview, given before she was admitted to hospital, Lohan admitted fighting the eating disorder bulimia, which made her lose weight at an alarming rate.
She will star alongside Jared Leto in Chapter 27 |
She said footage of herself on US comedy show Saturday Night Live made her aware of how ill she really was.
"My arms were disgusting. I had no arms," she recalled.
In the interview Lohan denied that she had ever taken cocaine.
"I don't want people to think that I've done... you know what I mean? It's kind of a sore subject," she said.
Lohan was admitted to hospital on Monday after suffering breathing difficulties in her hotel room in Miami.
The actress, who has had asthma since childhood, was due to start work on her new film Chapter 27 - about John Lennon's killer Mark Chapman - later this month.
