Police in Los Angeles say paparazzi photographers were not to blame for a car crash which left actress Lindsay Lohan needing hospital treatment. Officers say the collision, which left Lohan and her passenger with minor injuries on Tuesday, was caused by a van driver making an illegal turn.
An eyewitness had said the 19-year-old tried to avoid photographers who were waiting for her outside a restaurant.
A police spokesman said paparazzi involvement had been "ruled out".
"It appears it's the van's fault for making an illegal U-turn," he said.
Eyewitnesses had suggested that Freaky Friday star Lohan was driving too fast but the spokesman said speed "was not a factor" in the collision, which took place in West Hollywood.

He added that no drink or drugs were involved in the crash and the van driver, who needed hospital treatment for "moderate" injuries, would not be cited for the collision
The collision follows an incident in June in which Lohan suffered minor injuries in a crash with a photographer.
Galo Cesar Ramirez, 24, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly driving his vehicle into Lohan's car.
