Vincent Pastore starred in The Sopranos from 1999 to 2000 |
Sopranos star Vincent Pastore is considering a prosecution plea deal offer over charges relating to an alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend. Mr Pastore, 58, was offered the deal, including five days' community service, when he appeared in court on Thursday.
He denies two counts of assault, and one count each of attempted assault and harassment from an alleged attack on Lisa Regina in New York on 2 April.
Mr Pastore was bailed to return on 30 June but must not contact Ms Regina.
Assistant district attorney Brian Weinberg said at the hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court that the prosecution was recommending a sentence including community service.
Lawyer discussions
Mr Pastore would also have to attend a counselling programme for abusive men and sign a final order of protection.
The actor's lawyer, Dominic Barbara, said his client had only just received the offer but had begun discussions.
"We are appreciative that they are treating this case as they would any other," he added.
As he left court, Mr Pastore was asked why he had not agreed to the deal. He said: "Because I didn't do anything."
Fight claims
At a previous hearing on 5 April, prosecutor James Zaleta alleged the actor had punched Ms Regina in the back of the head during a fight in Mr Pastore's car in New York's Little Italy district.
"He then grabbed her hair and forced her head between the two seats in the front and hit her in the right eye," said Mr Zaleta.
In a further alleged tussle, Ms Regina "lost her balance and fell out onto the street, hitting the pavement." Mr Pastore left her lying in the street, Mr Zaleta said.
Mr Pastore played Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero in the mob drama, who was killed as payback for snitching on the mob.
