Emmy award-winning actress Stockard Channing has pleaded not guilty to drink driving charges in Los Angeles. The West Wing star was arrested on 14 December last year after allegedly trying to drive around a roadblock on the Hollywood Freeway.
The 60-year-old actress, who also starred in the film Grease, denied two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, through her lawyer.
The next hearing in the case was scheduled for 26 May.
Prison term
Ms Channing won a supporting actress Emmy in 2001 for her role as the first lady in White House drama The West Wing.
She was stopped by police after allegedly trying to drive around a roadblock which had been set up so a tow truck could remove a broken-down trailer.
The actress was jailed for three hours before being granted bail, according to the Sheriff's department of Los Angeles.
She was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, each of which carry a maximum term of six months imprisonment and a fine of $1, 000 (�535).
California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Delgadillo said Ms Channing's blood-alcohol levels were 0.12 and 0.13. The legal limit in California is 0.08.
