The rendition will be shown on BBC One during the fundraiser on 18 November.

Kaplinsky told the Radio Times: "This is a chance to show everybody that we can have a laugh, too."

She added: "For the rest of the year our job is to be serious. I think that's why people enjoy watching us.

"Every year, I say: 'This is the last time I'm going to make such a fool of myself'. And every year I find myself coming back for more humiliation."

Annual fundraiser

Murnaghan said Queen's music had been "the soundtrack to my school days".

Bohemian Rhapsody was a UK number one in 1975 and 1991

He said: "Even I can't ruin Bohemian Rhapsody, can I?"

The sketch will be part of the annual telethon, which brings together hundreds of events staged throughout the UK to raise money for disadvantaged children.

Last year's event raised over �17m on the night - up from �15.5m in 2003.

Bohemian Rhapsody is one of rock music's best-loved singles and consistently features highly in all-time great song polls.
