The British quiz format has been broadcast in 106 countries |
The producers of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? are taking the hit quiz show on the road - though host Chris Tarrant will not be along for the ride. Instead celebrity hosts will present the live stage show, which will visit eight venues across the UK ahead of a possible summer season.
The show will replicate Millionaire's winning formula, though contestants will compete for prizes, not money.
A spokesman said strict security would be in place to prevent cheating.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire? made headlines in 2003 when former army major Charles Ingram was found guilty of plotting to defraud the show.

"We'll be on the look-out for cheats," said a representative from production company Celador. "It will be a live event and move very quickly, so hopefully that will mitigate against it.
"We will play two rounds of fastest finger first, with the quickest audience member getting a chance in the hot seat," he continued.
Questions will be of the same level of difficulty as the TV show and will be set by the same people.
Prizes will vary from venue to venue but will probably include plasma TVs and MP3 players. Contestants reaching the million point mark will win a car.
The tour is scheduled to begin mid-June, with venues to be announced in the next few weeks.
