A second series of the Paul O'Grady Show is planned |
Paul O'Grady - the comedian behind Lily Savage - has been shortlisted for a prestigious television award. ITV1's Paul O'Grady Show is up for best daytime programme at next month's Royal Television Society Awards.
But his rivals in the 5pm slot, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan, are not nominated for their Channel 4 show.
BBC One ballroom dancing show Strictly Come Dancing, Ant and Dec, Coronation Street, Shameless and Jonathan Ross are all also up for awards.
New series
O'Grady was given his own daily ITV chat show in October last year, which went head-to-head with Richard and Judy. A second series will follow later this year.
The programme will compete against Channel 4's A Place in Spain for the best daytime award.
There are two nominations each for ITV1 duo Ant and Dec and illusionist Derren Brown.
Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are up for the best entertainment personality prize, as well as the best entertainment programme prize for Saturday Night Takeaway.
Brown, star of Channel 4's Tricks of the Mind show, is also up for the same two awards.
Factual shows
Coronation Street's 11-year-old star Sam Aston - who plays Chesney Brown - is up for best network newcomer, along with Catherine Tate for BBC Two's The Catherine Tate Show and Thomas Morrison for BBC One's Blackpool.
Coronation Street, EastEnders, and Emmerdale are all up for best soap.
Little Britain's Matt Lucas and David Walliams are in line for best comedy performance award, against two Channel 4 stars - Peter Kay, from Max and Paddy, and Tamsin Greig of Green Wing.
Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares has a nod for best features and factual entertainment against two other Channel 4 shows, Supernanny and Grand Designs Abroad.
Shameless, the Channel 4 drama about the anarchic family life of the Gallaghers, is up for best drama series, with BBC Three's Bodies and Life Begins from ITV1.
England Expects actor Steven Mackintosh, Omagh's Gerard McSorely and Dirty Filthy Love's Michael Sheen are shortlisted for best actor.
The RTS Programme Awards will be presented on 15 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London.
