David Gray has gone straight to the top of the UK albums chart with his seventh CD, Life in Slow Motion. Sir Paul McCartney scraped into the Top 10 at number 10 with solo CD Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard, his 20th studio recording since The Beatles.
In the singles chart, US female pop group the Pussycat Dolls held onto the number one spot for a second week with their debut release Don't Cha.
Sean Paul was the highest new entry with We Be Burnin' at number two.
In the album rundown, Gray knocked fellow singer-songwriter James Blunt off the top spot and scored his third number one album in a row.
KT Tunstall's Eye to the Telescope moved up to number three, her highest position yet, with Coldplay at four and Kanye West fifth.
