Sara Cox married club DJ Jon Carter in Ireland in 2001 |
BBC Radio 1 presenter Sara Cox has given birth to a baby girl. Lola Anne Carter, who weighed in at 7lb 11oz (3.5kg), was delivered at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in north London, on Sunday afternoon.
Cox, 29, and her dance DJ husband Jon Carter, said they were "bowled over" at the birth of their first child.
In a statement, they said: "We want to thank everyone at St John's and St Elizabeth's hospital, especially Rachel our midwife."
'Good health'
A spokesman for Radio 1 said both mother and daughter were in very good health.
Bolton-born Cox began her Radio 1 career in September 1999, and later landed the breakfast show job, taking over from her friend Zoe Ball.
She moved to the station's drivetime show in January after a fall in ratings meant she was replaced on the breakfast slot by Chris Moyles.
Cox plans to return to work after her maternity leave.
