The Eurovision Song Contest attracted more than eight million viewers to become Saturday's highest-rating show. An average of 8.3 million watched the contest on BBC One, representing 41.5% of the viewing public, rising to a peak of 10.7 million at 2230 BST.
This was a slight fall from last year's Eurovision peak of 11 million.
ITV1's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Olympic Special was Saturday's second favourite show in that time slot, attracting 5.7 million viewers.
Revamped
Eurovision viewers saw Ruslana win the song contest for Ukraine, on only the second time the country had taken part in the competition, while the United Kingdom's James Fox came 16th.
Earlier in the evening a Eurovision edition of BBC quiz The Weakest Link was won by the United Kingdom's 2000 entry Nicki French, drawing 3.1 million viewers.
Saturday also saw the launch of BBC One's revamped Come Dancing, fronted by Bruce Forsyth with celebrity contestants including ex-Brookside actress Claire Sweeney and Bargain Hunt's David Dickinson.
Strictly Come Dancing drew 4.5 million viewers to become the highest-rating show in its 1815 timeslot, beating the 4.1 million who watched ITV1's Stars in Their Eyes Kids live final.
