Alicia Keys won five Grammy awards in 2002

The singer is due to headline a charity concert on the Great Wall of China to raise money for the China Children's and Teenagers' Fund.

More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the concert, which will also feature Cyndi Lauper and Boyz II Men.

Speaking at a press conference, Keys said China was "so much more historical than America".

She added: "I am very much inspired by my surroundings."

Saturday's Wall of Hope concert, which will be the first time an international concert has been held there.

Speaking about the concert, the Grammy-award winning singer said: "It's our obligation as human people who should love and care about each other.

"I feel disheartened by the idea that just because we don't live in the same place we don't feel and live the same things."

Earlier this month, Keys cancelled a concert in Jakarta following a bomb attack on the Australian embassy in the Indonesian capital.

The singer had been due to perform in Jakarta on 5 October.
