O'Connor and Jodie Brooke Wilson became engaged last year |
Television presenter Des O'Connor has become a father at the age of 72 after his fiancee gave birth. Singer-songwriter Jodie Brooke Wilson, 35, gave birth to the 8lb boy, named Adam Harrison Campbell, at a London hospital on Tuesday.
It is O'Connor's first son, but he has four daughters aged between 16 and 41 from his three marriages.
A spokeswoman for the pair said: "Both mother and baby are fine. Des and Jodie are delighted, thrilled and overjoyed."
The boy is Wilson's first child.
'Right time'
The couple said they decided on Adam because it was a "strong" name.
The couple have been together for nearly 14 years and became engaged in 2003.
When they announced the pregnancy in March, O'Connor said he "couldn't be happier" and that it felt like the "right time" to have a child.
One of the highest-paid entertainers on TV, O'Connor hosts ITV1 talk show Today With Des And Mel with co-presenter Melanie Sykes.
He is returning to host the show this autumn.
Sykes, who gave birth to her second child in July, a baby boy named Valentino, said: "I'm pleased as punch for Des and Jodie and can't wait for my little fella to meet their little fella."
