Courtney Love was advised not to shout out during the hearing

The ex-Hole star arrived two hours late at Beverly Hills Superior Court and was asked to be silent by Judge Elden Fox after interrupting proceedings.

The hearing was postponed until 15 April after the singer's lawyer asked for extra time to prepare his case.

She denies being under the influence of a controlled substance and charges of drug possession last October.

During the court appearance, Ms Love called out: "Hello, Judge Fox," when arriving with lawyer Michael Rosenstein - who took over the case last month.

When prosecutors later objected to delaying the case, she called out: "I've got the bottles with me. I've got the prescriptions on me."

The judge advised her not to interrupt, saying: "Ms Love, you're not doing yourself any service."

At one point, Ms Love handed a book called A History of Women, Renaissance and Enlightenment Paradoxes to a reporter seated behind her.

When asked whether she would be able to make the new court date, Love told the judge: "I'll be right here."

'Disorderly conduct'

The hearing related to two felony counts of possession of controlled substances, the painkillers Hydrocodone and Oxycodone.

She also faces misdemeanour charges of disorderly conduct and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Both cases relate to her arrest in October 2003 after police said she damaged her boyfriend's house in the middle of the night.
