Kidman is a supporter of breast cancer charities |
Actress Nicole Kidman has denied reports that she has breast cancer. The star said reporters asked her about her January visit to a Los Angeles hospital, after obtaining her medical records without authorisation.
"I went in for a routine check-up, and the doctors discovered an area they thought needed further testing," the Cold Mountain star said.
"The results of those tests were negative and I was given an 'all clear'," she said.
The actress' representatives said they wanted to set the record straight after fielding numerous questions about Kidman's health.
Kidman said she had no problems with her health.
"Unfortunately, due to an invasion of my medical privacy, I've received a number of calls from the press asking about a visit to the hospital in Los Angeles in January," she told the Associated Press.
After being given a clean bill of health, Kidman said: "Needless to say, my family and I are enormously relieved and thankful.
"As always, I am committed to raising funds and awareness for women's health issues, and I'd like to emphasise the importance for all women to have regular mammograms and checkups."
The Oscar winner is due to be honoured at an event organised by the Women's Cancer Research Fund on 1 March for her work supporting the Women's Health Fund at the University of California, Los Angeles
