 Scottish prospect Franz Ferdinand make strong chart debut |
Scottish band Franz Ferdinand, who were tipped for success in BBC News Online's Sound of 2004 music survey, have made their chart debut at number three. The foursome were beaten only by Kelis and Pop Idol Michelle McManus, who remains at the top of the chart for a second week running with All This Time.
The only other new entry in the top ten was So Confused by 2Play.
Tears For Fears returned to the album chart, after Gary Jules' cover of their hit Mad World was Christmas number one.
The greatest hits album, featuring Shout, Sowing the Seeds of Love and Head Over Heels, entered the chart at number six.
There was no change in top three albums with Dido's Life for Rent at number one, followed by Will Young with Friday's Child and the Black Eyed Peas with Elephunk.

Dido has two albums in the top 10 as the Brit-nominee's debut No Angel was at number nine having been released more than two years ago. Fame Academy contestant Alistair Griffin, who came second in the BBC talent show, scored the only other new entry in the album top 20 with Bring it On entering at number 12.
The Sound of 2004 music survey canvassed a panel of experts about their tips for bands to watch out for in the coming year.
Franz Ferdinand came second in the poll, beaten only to the first placed position by Sussex trio Keane.
