Ant and Dec are nominated for Saturday Night Takeaway

They are all nominated in the best comedy entertainment personality category at the 14th annual ceremony.

Alan Partridge star Steve Coogan, with two nominations, is aiming to match David Jason's record of nine prizes.

The awards, which have a history of unpredictable moments, are broadcast live on ITV1 on Wednesday from 2100GMT.

Newcomer Marc Wootton, star of Channel 4's My New Best Friend, and presenters Ant and Dec. also have two nominations

Coogan, Rob Brydon and Martin Clunes are all nominated in the coveted category of best comedy actor.

Elsewhere, Felicity Montagu - Lyn in the Alan Partridge series - takes on Julie Walters and Ronni Ancona for best comedy actress.

BBC Two's acclaimed 3 Non Blondes are nominated for best comedy newcomer alongside David Walliams for BBC Two's Little Britain and Marc Wootton for My Best Friend.

Ricky Gervais was crowned king of TV comedy at last year's awards, and his sitcom The Office won best TV comedy.

Gervais also picked up the best actor award for his character David Brent. Graham Norton triumphed for best comedy entertainment personality and best comedy entertainment programme for his Channel 4 show, V Graham Norton.
