UK gig comeback for Duran Duran
Duran Duran
The original members of the band reunited
Duran Duran have played their first UK gig together in 18 years at London's Forum.

More than 200,000 people flooded the phone lines when details of Tuesday's surprise gig - which sold out in four minutes - were announced.

Roger and Andy Taylor quit the band in the mid-80s, while John Taylor left in the mid-90s.

Reunited two years ago, they played sell-out gigs in the US this year and won an MTV Lifetime Achievement Award.

Their US gigs, celebrating 25 years in the music business, attracted a celebrity audience with Debbie Harry, Chloe Sevigny, Gwen Stefani and Nicolas Cage among the audience.

Just 2,000 tickets were made available for the British date but many fans would have been left disappointed after selling out within minutes.

Full UK tour

They were sold for more than 100 each on internet auction site Ebay.

On Wednesday, Duran Duran will also appear at the charity Fashion Rocks event at the Royal Albert Hall.

A full UK tour is set to follow next summer and the band are to return to the studio in December to finish working on their album.

After their UK appearances, the band will return to the United States to complete a tour there before playing with Robbie Williams in Australia.
