Beyonce fails in chart challenge
Beyonce
Beyonce's single Baby Boy, featuring Sean Paul, went in at two
Beyonce's collaboration with reggae star Sean Paul has failed to dislodge hip-hop group The Black Eyed Peas from the top of the UK singles chart.

Beyonce and Sean Paul's single Baby Boy was a new entry at number two.

But The Black Eyed Peas' hit Where Is The Love stayed at number one for the sixth week in a row - the longest stint at the top since 1998.

The Strokes and Texas also had new entries in the top 10 while Dido remained at the top of the album chart.

The Black Eyed Peas are a Los Angeles quartet made up of three former break dancers and a female singer, and have released three albums.

They have a more laid-back, optimistic outlook than some of the gangsta rappers the US has produced.

Their only previous hit, Request Line, featuring singer Macy Gray, reached number 31 in May 2001.

Next week, they will face competition from 50 Cent, Sugababes and Sophie Ellis Bextor, who all have releases out on Monday.

In this week's top 40, Jamelia's single Superstar made a surprise leap from six to three.

The Strokes' 12:51 - the first release from their hotly-anticipated second album - went in at number seven.

Texas' comeback single Carnival Girl was at nine while the Fast Food Rockers had a new entry at number 10 with Say Cheese.

Joe Strummer and his band, the Mescaleros, also made it into the chart with Coma Girl, at 33 - 10 months after the former Clash frontman died.

The top three in the album chart - Dido, Robbie Williams and The Darkness - remained the same on Sunday.

The highest new entry was a new compilation of Elvis Presley's hits, 2nd To None, which went in at number four.

Canadian crooner Michael Buble's album entered in sixth place while Daniel Bedingfield and Sean Paul both went back into the top 10.
