Jolie has never been shy about revealing private thoughts |
Actress Angelina Jolie has spoken candidly of the collapse of her marriage to actor Billy Bob Thornton and her history of self-mutilation. The Tomb Raider actress told US TV interviewer Barbara Walters that she no longer spoke to Thornton and that she was still estranged from her father Jon Voight.
Jolie, 28, said she originally thought Thornton was "amazing" but "I just feel like I don't know him".
Jolie, 28, also said had moved on her from quirky past, which included cutting herself as part of a teenage sex game which she called "primitive".
"I think when you make a decision to have a child, you cannot think about suicide again and you can't be self-destructive," she said.
Jolie and Thornton were the talk of Hollywood during their marriage |
The star said she had remained single since her divorce from Monster's Ball star Thornton after less than two years, and had had laser surgery to remove a "Billy Bob" tattoo. "We're not friends, no. It's like we just changed. We became very different people, and I wouldn't know what to talk to him about."
She doubted she would marry again because she did not want a "temporary father" for her adopted son.
Jolie also confirmed that despite a brief reunion on the set of the film Tomb Raider she no longer speaks to her father Voight.
"It was a hello and goodbye. And that was kind of that time for us."
During the explicit interview she also touched on a past bisexual relationship and said she was still a "very sexual woman".
The interview will be broadcast on the American ABC show 20/20 on Friday.
