Beyonce Knowles performed her hit Crazy in Love

Crowds at the sixth annual event, which raises cash for the Prince of Wales' Trust, saw chart-topping acts including Beyonce Knowles, Craig David, Atomic Kitten, Gareth Gates and Blue.

But the running order of the show was interrupted when rock veteran Meatloaf had his microphone turned off after he refused to leave the stage.

Instead of handing over to former Hear'Say star Kym Marsh he continued to perform his hit Bat Out of hell for an extra eight minutes.

"They said you've got to get off the stage I said you've got to be joking after only 12 minutes, you people are out of your minds," he said.

"If they'd wanted to grab me off the stage, look at me, it would have taken 47,000 of them to do that," he added.

Prince Charles also attended the show, which raised more than �1m for his charity last year.

He tipped his hat to the crowds, who responded by waving and cheering.

Gareth Gates proved popular with the crowds

Other singers at the event included David Gray, Shania Twain, Girls Aloud, former Hear'Say singer Kym Marsh and Daniel Bedingfield.

Reborn In The USA winner Tony Hadley was also making an appearance.

The event was organised by London radio station Capital FM and was also broadcast on TV by Five.
