Magician Paul Daniels has been admitted to hospital after falling ill in the middle of his one-man tour. The entertainer complained of feeling exhausted and unwell as he was preparing to take the stage in Shanklin, Isle of Wight.
The 64-year-old was taken to hospital where he underwent a series of tests.
His wife and former magician's assistant Debbie McGee has travelled to the Isle of Wight to be with him as he awaits the test results.
Daniels' spokesman said the star may be suffering from exhaustion following a punishing performing schedule for An Audience with Paul Daniels.
He has recently returned from working in Australia to embark on a UK tour.
"Paul was due to appear in Shanklin last night but yesterday afternoon he complained that he wasn't feeling very well and decided to get checked out," said the spokesman.
"He went to hospital and the doctors kept him in overnight. They did various tests, like an ECG and blood tests, and he is waiting for the results. Hopefully it's nothing too bad.
"I don't think he was in any pain, he just said that he felt as if he had no energy at all. He has been on tour night after night and it does take its toll."
