Emin's charity date with Archer
Tracey Emin
Emin donated her own prize of a day at her studio
Artist Tracey Emin is to take tea with jailed peer Lord Archer following a celebrity auction for an HIV charity.

Emin bid 4,000 for the prize donated by Lord Archer - tea with himself for two guests at the House of Lords.

Although she was outbid, the winner invited her to join him once Lord Archer is released from Hollesley Bay open prison, Suffolk, where he is serving four years for perjury.

The fund-raising gala was staged for Lighthouse, part of the Terrence Higgins Trust, which provides care and support to people affected by HIV and Aids.

Chris Drake, a property developer from Hampshire, bid a winning 4,500 for the Archer appointment.

Emin had donated her own prize of a day spent visiting her studio, complete with champagne lunch.

Other celebrities supporting the event included novelist Will Self, newsreader Kirsty Young and model-actress Marie Helvin.

Prizes included a walk-on part on US TV comedy Frasier, pole dancing lessons at a London club, and a winner's face published on a special, one-off cover of Harpers & Queen magazine.
