Cold Feet: Your views
Adam (Jimmy Nesbitt)
Adam scatters Rachel's ashes
The successful comedy drama Cold Feet has finally come to an end after six years.

The final episode saw the group of 30-something friends united in grief at Rachel's funeral.

"Loose ends are left trailing nicely at the conclusion, although some viewers may yearn for more resolution," wrote BBC News Online's Darren Waters.

But what do you think?

Was it a fitting end to the series? Do you think it has finished at the right time?

I'm just glad it's all over as now I can wrestle the TV back from my wife on a Sunday night to watch Clocking Off and 24. Having been subjected to this mediocre pap for the last four weeks, I miss quality drama.
Simon, UK

I thought the last series was very disappointing, contrived, patronising and not very funny.
Chris, UK

I'm rather glad it ended as I will now not be banished to the kitchen to watch 24.
Paul Kavanagh, England

Sad to see the end. We have had ups, downs and kids in parallel with these characters
Ian, UK
The series should have stopped long ago. The last season was rubbish. One has got to learn when to stop and they seem to have got it a bit late.
Sylvie, UK

I have followed this series since the pilot and I am very sad to see it end as this was the only decent show on TV. However, I thought the ending was very moving and yet still managed to keep a touch of comedy (in the right places). Well done to the writers, it will be sadly missed, let's hope they make a Christmas special or two.
Claire, England

I thought the balance of drama and humour was just right. The various mishaps with Rachel's ashes were a clever touch. I'm glad that Jenny and Pete got back together, and that David and Karen didn't - it would have made everything too perfect otherwise. The best bit, of course, was Ramona giving Jo a well deserved right hook. All in all, a great ending to a great show. Goodbye Cold Feet, we'll miss you.
Jean, UK

Sad to see the end. We have had ups, downs and kids in parallel with these characters. Last night's grief seemed to be handled very well, and did bring a lump to the throat. And the Karen/David story seemed to work well. But the whole thing with Pete, Jo and Jenny just seemed contrived and rushed to fit it all in by the end of the show. For me, slightly spoiled a great series that we have enjoyed since the pilot.
Ian, UK

The almost light-hearted dialogue between Adam and the recently deceased Rachel was very moving, and not nearly as maudlin as it could have been. But isn't that the essence of Cold Feet? I'm still tearful this morning though. Brilliant television.
Jan, Scotland

On behalf of myself and my work colleagues, Julia, Paul and Simon, we thoroughly enjoyed last night's final episode - full of all kinds of emotions with its usual witty outbursts. I liked the touches of Rachel - I think we all call that wishful thinking but a lovely touch.
Madelene Cooper, Bromley, Kent

Good ending but it would have been nice if the writers had got David and Karen reconciled as they did with Pete and Jenny.
Julie, Edinburgh

I thought the entire build-up was unjustified and the big finale let itself down. Remember the big twist in the tale promised to us? The only potential twist I saw was David deciding who to take to dinner; his grouchy soon to be ex-wife or the smart and sophisticated solicitor. It was hardly edge of the seat stuff. As Adam realised, life goes on. Just as well really.
Rebecca Southwell, uk

We know the characters so well that it would be rude not to visit again
Frankie, UK
I found last night very poor. It started off well very with the sadness at the funeral. But it just did not capture me as previous episodes had. What a waste to end such a good programme. The biggest problem was all the hype beforehand.
Colette, England

Great ending to a great show. And left open for a possible return.
RM, Yorkshire

I enjoyed watching it from time to time and on occasions it moved me, but to suggest that public demand dictated the work schedules of a group of people who need to move on is bordering on the ideology of someone who believes that TV drama is real and that viewers don't make a connection between reality and highly engineered, emotive, coincidential theatrics.
Jason, England, UK

So Rachel got into the taxi. There could easily be another episode or three in a few years. Do not despair.
David, Cornwall

After being a fan of Cold Feet since series two, it was a shame to see it end. Even though it has never been as good since Faye Ripley left, it was still a shame to see it go. It went out on a high though, not being as predictable as expected. Hey, who knows, maybe Mike Bullen will write a reunion episode in a few years. Let's hope so.
Ben, Cardiff, UK

It's sad that this series has come to an end. It's much better than the rubbish the BBC puts on TV.
Mike, UK

No final resolution is perhaps the way of life but within art we are conditioned to expect it. It would be nice to see what came next but if it had to end, this felt like a good send off.
Ian Faulkner, England

I think they should do a christmas special.
Liz Walker, UK

Brilliant heart-warming comedy. We know the characters so well that it would be rude not to visit again. But now they have set our imaginations on fire it is time to leave well enough alone. Fantastic series.
Frankie, England

What was all the fuss about?
Johno, UK
Marvellous! I was disappointed that Karen and David didn't get back together especially after the moving moment during Karen's words at the service. Pete's "she owed me a tenner" line was perfectly timed!
Marie, UK

Well... I am sad that it is the last ever episode. Very enjoyable drama. Perhaps another series will be made where Rachel makes a come back just like Bobby Ewing in Dallas!!!!
Robert Brown, UK

Excellent last series!
Ruth Piggott, England

Thank god this is over. Only ITV could continue to show programmes that are way beyond their sell by date. It is quite depressing also, how much coverage was given to this programme in the national press - they acted as if it was some kind of national institution. Heaven help us if they can't find anything more important to write about.
Matt, UK

Even though the last series bore little resemblance to the first one, which was hysterical, I am as enamoured of Cold Feet as when it started. I just hope that the writers resist any temptation to revive it or create a spin-off. As it is, the programme is going out on a high and any attempts to manage without Rachel or have her come back from the dead would just be ridiculous.
Catherine O, UK

What was all the fuss about? This whole sad series has been about as interesting as watching paint dry.
Johno, UK

I know I speak for many, many people when I say that I really wish that the series would continue. The characters have grown and matured over the years and I don't believe the series has reached a natural conclusion. Series usually end when either there is nowhere else for the plot to go or tastes have changed. The open questions in the plot and viewing figures for this last series reflect the fact that the series still has a way to go for an audience that wants more.
Tony Howard, UK

After last week's episode where I sobbed my heart out I was more than a little disappointed in last night's one
Sooze, UK
Finally a line has been drawn under a great piece of drama. I hope we will see all of those talented actors in very different roles.
Sean, UK

Not bad but why did Adam have to repaint the entire flat when he moved out? It was full of colour when Rachel was alive but grey as he left. Symbolic perhaps?
Andrew Hopkins, England

It's a shame to see the end of Cold Feet, although last night's episode was a bit of an anti-climax.
Emma, UK

What a great programme! The telly would be far better if there were more series like this one. I enjoyed the whole series immensely and will be sad to see it depart from our screens.
Martyn, Manchester, UK

I was glued to last night's programme and have been for this whole series - I think this has been one of the best dramas on TV for a long time and hope they go along the same lines as Only Fools and Horses and perhaps make a Christmas special so we can catch up on their lives.
Allison Duncton, UK

It started by showing Britain's 30-somethings enjoying life in the mid 90s by extending their 20's lifestyles. It ended with the grim reality of life and responsiblity in the new millennium. Jo and Pete's short marriage was fitting of the short relationship they had in the previous series, pushed together by scriptwriters desperate to keep ratings up. Out of the six characters, has anyone not cheated?
Jason, England

The previous episode was much better with some very funny bits and pure tragedy in Rachel's death. The best bit of the last episode was Adam's realisation that Rachel would never see Matthew grow up. I did not really like the ashes being knocked over - very contrived.

And getting Pete to split with Jo and back with Jenny was even more contrived. The only natural and pleasant thing would be for Karen and David to get back together. But they did not do that - though I think it was left that in the future they will.

Generally a very good series though - certianly not mediocre pap!
Jonathan Lighthill, UK

I just hope they leave it now and do not feel the need to make Christmas/ one-off specials which would cheapen the whole thing
Ian, UK
Looking forward to watching the repeats of the first series, which was by far the best! Last night's episode was very good, although I will miss them all.
Emma, UK

Complete disappointment. It seemed like the writer just couldn't wait for it all to be over. It was twee and boring and completely unfunny. Killing Rachel off was a huge mistake and ruined the whole thing.
Carl, UK

After last week's episode where I sobbed my heart out I was more than a little disappointed in last night's one. I have enjoyed this since the very beginning, the clever way humour is mixed with sadness. But last night seemed too rushed as though trying to squeeze too much in. Disappointing end to a brilliant show after six years.
Sooze, UK

I have been moved to tears over the past couple of weeks following Rachel's death. This is great credit to the fab actors who made the characters so believable. The programme will be sadly missed but perhaps it was good that they left with such a strong following unlike some programmes which allow themself to slowly fade away.
Jill, Scotland

Not having been a regular fan I didn't have any expectations. The Big Chill opening got me hooked straight away. As a one-off it was a joy, full of nice touches and nods to other works.
Steve B, Scotland

I've been avidly following this last series and felt from the beginning that the episodes whould have been a traditional hour in length so it could have lasted longer. Enjoyed the penultimate episode very much but was disappointed with the last episode. The trailers all looked promising and the ghost of Rachel was a nice touch but went a bit far and feel she should have been left behind when the taxi drove away. Also David not getting back with Karen was disappointing, esspecially after they re-kindled the spark at Portmeirion. Sorry ITV, not your best effort for a final episode.
Tom, Kent, UK

I just want to know, where was Adam going to in the taxi at the end? It's really bugging me!
Alison, England

Fantastic, goodbye to a comfortable old friend. The best bits of the final final Cold Feet? Rachel, her ashes saga and getting in the cab with Adam and Matthew, perfect and so very real, I've been there.
Helen Gordon, UK

This has been a great series from start to finish. I just hope they leave it now and do not feel the need to make Christmas/ one-off specials which would cheapen the whole thing.
Ian, UK

I laughed and cried and didn't want it to end
Lian Roberts, Wales
Mike Bullen said in a documentary last week that last night's episode was the best script he'd ever written. I have to say that I disagree. I thought that it was a disappointing end to an enjoyable series. I was left thinking "is that it?".
Neil Dodd, UK

What an end to one of Britain's great series of the 90s. I will miss Cold feet. And who said the British can't make sitcoms as good as the Americans?
Coretta Kufuor, London

A great series over the past few years - a winning combination of likeable characters and great storylines.

I just feel sad that it's all come to an end - whilst I've the DVDs to watch, it's not the same as seeing a new episode on a Sunday night!

Series 4 was a bit disappointing and whilst series 5 was not as strong as some of the earlier series, Cold Feet remains superior to any other TV drama.

Cold Feet will be badly missed and here's hoping that its writers can repeat the winning formula in the near future!
Antony Lupton, UK

Very funny when Pete said that Rachel owed him a tenner, then heartbreaking when Adam realises that Rachel has really gone in the lounge scene with her ashes. Poor ending though, blatant open ended for a "last ever" comeback?
Simon Doderer, England

I've watched the series right from day one, and although I was very sad to see it finish I thought the final episode was brilliant! I laughed and cried and didn't want it to end!
Lian Roberts, Wales

I've only been watching Cold Feet for the past two or three series' but have enjoyed every single minute. I was extremely sad to see the end, with the usual mix of humour and the tearful moments (especially when Pete spilt some of the ashes - brilliant!)

As much as it's been enjoyable and well-loved, I hope the writers know that the end of a series is when it should be truly laid to rest and don't bring it back for some cheesy Christmas special (in my opinion, it didn't work for Men Behaving Badly!) and it wouldn't be the same without all of the original six anyway. Good memories should always be left alone.
Pamela, England

I'm gutted that it's ended, but it's bound to return when they are all penniless.
Neil, England

The last episode was very moving but in some respects predictable. It was a good way to end the series.
Vikki, UK

I have to admit that I've never understood the attraction of Cold Feet until the episode featuring Rachel's death. Thus I was delighted to find an even better episode on Sunday night. Although certain subplots were a little rushed (Pete and Jo) I thought that touches such as Adam's realisation of Rachel's death, and Jenny's reappearance were well scripted. For me though, the final scene where Rachel follows Adam into the taxi rounded the series off perfectly. Very well done - I'll be buying the DVD!
Andy, England

I am sad to see a great show end but thank you - Cold Feet, you have provided us with a lot of entertainment, I hope you will make a Christmas special.
Simon, Scotland

Real life ending, i.e. life goes on.
John Whittaker, UK

I will never forget the scatterng of Rachel's ashes - I was surprised that there were any left! Brilliant and sad.
Elaine Hopwood, England

Chill out everyone! It was only a TV programme...a great one, but not real!
Sharon, Brighton, UK

The funeral was rushed and needed 15 mins and not the two it was given. Oh why did they do the whole Rachel coming back as a ghost thing? The point of the episode was for Adam to grieve and start to live without her.

The Ramona/Jo bit was ok but once again seemed rushed. I did like Jenny's return and thought it a very heartwarming side story .

The ashes thing was very funny.

Overall I would give it only seven out of 10 as it could have been done better.
Daniel Jeffery, UK

I was sad to see the end of one of my favourite programmes on TV. Rachel did annoy the hell out of me and it was never the same once Jenny left, but it is still better than that Clocking Off drivel that was supposed to rival it and was better than most of the rubbish that's on the TV for the rest of the time. Repeats soon I hope!!!
A, UK

A good end to a great series. However I felt it was a little open ended - it didn't tie up loose ends and begged for another series, something we won't ever get. Also where was the twist to remember the show by?
Adam, UK

Cold Feet has been top-class viewing from the start. Fantastic acting, sympathetic characters with real depth, and writing of consistent quality. It has been unmissable for six years.
Roy Pinney, UK

Cold Feet was a mixed bag. At its best the show had a quirky charm, thanks to the sometimes imaginative scripts, vivid characters and innovative dream sequences. It produced a few memorable, even fairly moving moments over the years, and probably hit its peak around the second or third season.

I liked the way the show managed to chronicle some of the life crises we all face from time to time - redundancy, relationships breaking up, illness - in a fresh way, without being boringly realistic or gritty.

But as the show wore, the fresh approach increasingly gave way to the stale: shamelessly recycled plot lines, contrived arguments, tedious affairs, credibility-stretching disasters like a smug, middle class Eastenders.

One episode of the current and last series, shown two or three weeks ago, seemed to consist of little more than the characters having boring arguments with each other.

Having said all that, the script for last night's episode was something of a return to form and I'd say the show as a whole had a worthy send-off. And I think it's a shame the writer has been quite so gleeful about killing Cold Feet off there are virtually no other British-made shows anything like it. I too wouldnt say no to the occasional special.
C Paterson, UK

I loved every single series, however the last episode was a bit of a let down. Just as withdrawal symptoms had started it advertised that ITV2 would be showing every series from the beginning. Thank you ITV2!
Jason, Manchester, England

I've watched Cold Feet from the very beginning and it has always been something of a treat to look forward to. The last two series have been disappointing, compared with how it all began, and I always thought that this was partly to do with Jenny leaving. However, as everyone else has pointed out - it is still the best and most original programme on TV by miles! Well done Cold Feet!
Catherine, UK

I will miss Cold Feet, as it has been a very funny, moving and real piece of television. I have watched it since the pilot episode and I must say that the last two series, especially series four, have been nowhere near as good as the first three. The final series has been trying to make amends, but I think all in all it is probably best it bows out now. I'll still miss it though!
Catherine, UK

What more can be said? Absolutely brilliant!
Teresa, UK

Having not seen the whole of this series including the penultimate episode last week I ensured that I watched the "final one". How said it was to see Adam trying to deal with his grief by thinking Rachel was still with him. I had to admit I cried at the parts where Karen started crying whilst out shopping in Asda and when baby Matthew started crawling and Adam realised that Rachel was not really there to see it.

Disappointed that David chose Robyn over Karen but thought it was a good point when Ramona punched Jo to the floor! Well done to the writers of Cold Feet but may it now, as Rachel is, rest in peace. Once a character is written out, a series like this would never be the same again. Long live repeats and DVDs.

PS - Did Adam and Matthew leave to live with Adam's dad in Ireland I wonder? (We will never know!)
Lianne, Wales

I thought it was a great end, I would have loved it if the series had been a bit longer. It felt like it had only started when it had finished. It was a brilliant show and I'm sure it will be missed.
Barbara Connor, Ireland

I thought that the last episode of Cold Feet had a brilliant mix of humour and sadness, some wonderful acting (Karen upset in the supermarket, Adam's realisation). Having Rachel appear throughout the episode was comforting. A fantastic programme that will be sadly missed.

Oh, and I am pleased Karen and David didn't get back together, I think their relationship had definitely run its course.
Zoe, UK

It was sad that it's come to an end but the series had to finish while it was so popular!! Unlike Friends it was reality with the right amount of humour.
Nicky Higgins, England

Give Ramona her own series, she was fantastic!!! I am really sad it's the end of Cold Feet, I only hope that the whole series is repeated, right back to the beginning. The characters were brilliant, Rachel was my favourite.
Rebecca, West Sussex

Just a quick point - Rachel wasn't a ghost; her appearance in the episode was as a figment of Adam's imagination, demonstrating his inability to let go. It was very clever writing. Furthermore in answer to Alison, I think we're supposed to think that Adam and Matthew have gone to Ireland to live with Adam's Dad, as he phoned him right before the scene where he gets in the taxi.

The last couple of series have been great drama - sadly though Cold Feet worked best for me as a comedy and I think it was spoilt by darker storylines and certainly the death of Rachel. Still great, but why did you have to depress us so much? If only all TV was this good.
David Rees, UK

I will miss Cold Feet, as it brought back some of the witty, sharp comedy that only classic British comedies can deliver, and it was good to see that the writers had come up with a realistic finale for all the characters, and not overloaded the melodrama and realism that most dramas seem to have.
Katie, UK

What other programme will I look forward to with such enthusiam? I hope somebody, somewhere, is penning something equally entertaining.
June, England

I liked it. Anything that can make you laugh and cry at the same time is great. I can't imagine a follow up without Rachel's character, so I hope they leave it there. Adam moving on to be with his Dad, while taking the memory of Rachel with him seemed a fitting finale. Sad to see them go but there's always re-runs.
Sarah, Scotland

So the series is over, and the whole show brought to an apt close. Outstanding, witty and captivating light-hearted drama - so please don't bring it back. Learn the lesson that a good thing doesn't return, or when it does it's simply not as good as the original. Take a look at Auf Wiedersehen Pet; originally ground breaking and side splittingly funny, second time around nothing more than mediocre. Memory wears rose tinted spectacles - don't forget.
Chris, UK

Cold Feet will be sadly missed. After I get to see it. I have followed it from the beginning and now it is near the end. When will it get to New Zealand screens? Please let there be some kind of special show. Hardly any of the DVDs are here yet and I have basically no access to Cold Feet.
Selina, New Zealand

I am glad it is all over cause honestly the last episode is really disappointing.
Patsy, London

Well Adam and his shirts, shan't miss them, however the clever timing and clarity of the humour will be sorely missed. The characters meld together perfectly. It is true that all good things come to an end, it's sensible to bring this enjoyable drama to a close whilst still running strong instead of duplicating. Some series have seemingly gone on forever, presumably to reap the financial payback for both directors/producers and actors. Hope this has given the actors a sure footing for other quality work. See you all soon and well done.
S Croll, Scotland

"Mediocre pap" - sounds about right to me.
Gareth Bagley, UK

what a shame, the first two series engaged and enthralled but this series I have struggled to watch and just feel dislocated from it now.
Graham Bridge, UK

How sad was that? I mean you can't leave it like that. What about Pete? I was crying well bad!!
Lucy Cole, England

I disagree with Johno's comments that this series was like watching paint dry. Personally I found it as interesting as watching Astro-turf grow.
Daveo, UK

I think Cold Feet is brilliant! Sad to see the end. The final episode had me in tears until the end credits!
Jess, England

Very sorry to see it end. Well done on the last show - it was fab.
Donna, UK

Typical, whenever there is anything good on TV, it always finishes!!! Cold Feet was by far the best thing that has happened to TV is the past few years, refreshing and very funny! Sunday nights will never be the same! Goodbye Cold Feet!!
Nicola, UK

Many of the comments made on this page are dissing Cold Feet but I thought it was a great programme - it was well written, really well acted and it's a shame it had to end.
Oli, UK
