Pellow plays Billy Flynn in Chicago

The singer was due to revive his role as Billy Flynn in the musical Chicago this week, but his debut has now been put back until June.

The strike - which has now been resolved - affected the amount of rehearsal time he was given.

"It was thought to be better if he returned in June," said his spokeswoman.

Pellow's next performance in Chicago will be in Dublin on 22 April and he will then head to Tokyo.

"It's a real shame that my performance has been rescheduled," said Pellow.

"But as a musician myself, I completely understand the views of the Broadway performers in their strike action and am looking forward to coming back in June."

Crippling

The strike was the result of a dispute between the American Federation of Musicians and Broadway producers who wanted to cut the size of some orchestras.

The two groups reached a settlement after talking through the night on Monday.

The union wanted the minimum number of musicians to be kept at about 26 but finally agreed that the 13 largest theatres will have a minimum of 18 to 19 musicians.

The two sides were called to talks because the strike was crippling businesses such as restaurants and hotels which depend on Broadway.

The cost of the strike to the local tourism industry has already been put at $7.2m (�4.4m).
