Madonna's theme tune for the next James Bond movie has failed to conquer the top of the UK singles chart, entering at number three.

Her single, Die Another Day, was beaten to number one by a Spanish DJ's trance remix of a Bryan Adams track.

At number two, Nelly and Kelly Rowland also held off the challenge from the queen of pop.

In an equally competitive album chart, David Gray went in at number one, with other new entries from Gareth Gates, Nirvana and the Manic Street Preachers in the next three spots.

Madonna's Die Another Day is the title song for the Bond movie of the same name, which is released later in November.

But the number one spot was captured by DJ Sammy with his track, Heaven, which is a version of the Bryan Adams song of the same name.

The remix has already been a hit in Europe, the United States and Australia.

Craig David's latest single, What's Your Flava, could only enter at number eight, and was followed by two more new entries from So Solid's Romeo at nine and Shaggy at 10.

Whitney Houston's new release Whatchulookinat, entered at number 12, while Tom Jones' latest, called Tom Jones International, scraped in at 31.

The new single from Toploader, Some Kind Of Wonderful, failed to make the top 40.
