Minnelli reality show 'axed'
Liza Minnelli and husband David Gest
Minnelli's husband Gest was allegedly "unco-operative"
Liza Minnelli's reality TV show has reportedly been axed after producers complained they were not given enough access to the performer's home life.

The programme had planned to follow Minnelli and her husband David Gest as they hosted weekly dinner parties with celebrity friends in their Manhattan penthouse.

It was due to be screened on VH1 in the US in December, but the New York Post newspaper says tensions between Gest and the makers made it unworkable.

Although we continue to believe that Liza is an amazing talent, we were not given the co-operation we were promised

VH1 executive
"We've made the decision not to move forward with the Liza and David show," a VH1 executive producer reportedly told the newspaper.

"Although we continue to believe that Liza is an amazing talent, we were not given the co-operation we were promised."

Bodyguard

Gest allegedly cancelled agreed filming slots and had a bodyguard stand outside their home to keep the camera crew out, the Post reported.

Ozzy Osbourne

The show was inspired by the success of The Osbournes, which is chronicling the unconventional homelife of British rocker Ozzy and his family at their Los Angeles mansion.

The second series of the Osbournes is due to be screened in the US next month.

In the UK, the first series of the hit show starts on Channel 4 on Friday.

Biopic

Meanwhile, Ozzy Osbourne's life is also to be portrayed on the big screen, his wife Sharon said on Wednesday.

She said she hoped Johnny Depp would play the former Black Sabbath singer in the biopic.

"I have a dream of who it could be, but I don't know if he'll do it," she told the Hollywood Reporter.

"He's a brilliant actor."

Sharon said her husband was close to signing a deal with a major film studio to make the movie about his turbulent career.
