Liza Minnelli's film career was always going to be compared with that of her mother, Judy Garland.

She grew up on the studio lots in Hollywood and made her first screen appearance when a three-year-old, in a film with her mother.

Her greatest role has undoubtedly been in Cabaret, a musical transferred to the big screen. Her star waned in the late 1980s and 1990s and she is now better known as a performer, rather than as an actress.
