New Coldplay album: Your views
Coldplay, whose second album is released on 26 August
Coldplay's new album is described as "near-flawless"
A Rush Of Blood To The Head is Coldplay's long awaited follow up to their hugely successful debut album Parachutes.

The album, which features the hit single In My Place, sees the band bringing folk and rock influences to their distinctive, haunting brand of music.

"Coldplay have conjured up a near-flawless second album. In a business renowned for its high burn-out rate, it is a rare example of promise fulfilled. " wrote BBC News Online's Nigel Packer.

But what do you think?

Is it a worthy follow-up to Parachutes? Are they set for even greater success this time around?

Have your say

I loved Parachutes but A Rush of Blood to the Head is 1000 times better. It made me cry, what more can you ask? It will never leave my CD player again. Chris Martin is a genius.
Angela Corner, UK

The new Coldplay album is stunning and it easily matches its predecessor.

Chris Martin's voice has a habit of reaching into your heart and touching your soul. Coldplay's music has had a lot of personal meaning for me over the years, kinda like a soundtrack to mad events in my life. I think it is this that makes it so appealing to people. People can relate and connect to the lyrics and the mood of the music.
Ross Dundas, Scotland

Introspection and innocence! Coldplay are a very deep band drawing from classic influences such as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to create hope for the music industry. Hope that all the evil shiny pop music will one day subside. This album is certainly a step in the right direction!
Keith Jordan, Cheshire, England

I have listened to this album several times to try and determine some merit in it. However it is totally bland and lacking in any kind of musical imagination. Whatever happened to British guitar bands? Are they so lacking in bite and lyric writing skills that Coldplay end up as one of the current best exponents of the genre? How sad is that.
Stephen Labourne, UK

Never before has music like this touched and stayed with so many people, at one time, for so long, in one place. The music that emanates from this album has a rich, tangy aroma that stays in your clothes and hair forever.
Timmah, UK

I don't normally listen to this sort of music, I dislike Travis and I hated most of Radiohead's Amnesiac but this is pure class - the best "rock" album in years.
Richard, UK

This Coldplay Album is quite stunning. It is very moving and every track has special qualities that really make you want to listen again and again.
Dan, UK

This album is fantastic! In my opinion it is the first rock album in the new millenium that, despite quite a lot of references to the past, shows the future of rock music. This record is a "must-have" for every music fan.
Christoph Haemmerli, Switzerland

They truly deserve to conquer the world with this one. I managed to get a copy of the CD on the Friday before the release date and I have not stopped playing ever since. Every song just gets better and better. The Scientist, Clocks and Amsterdam are my clear favourites but it really is hard to pick any out ... they are all that good. The only exception to this being Green Eyes, which doesn't quite do it for me.

It's also great to see them promote Fair Trade products on the CD literature (very much like U2 do). When you have the potential to reach millions of people with you music, it's great to see another band take their responsibilities seriously for a change. Well done Coldplay ... an outstanding collection of songs that Oasis could only dream of.
AJ, UK

The debut, Parachutes, was sporadically good but had some iffy moments. This one is breathtakingly good. The quality of the recording and production makes the whole thing just shimmer out of the stereo. Only the Doves' Last Broadcast can stand alongside it this year. And both outshine the increasingly aimless Radiohead.
George B, UK

Parachutes is my favourite album but this comes very very close.Coldplay are indeed a band that will conquer the world. This album puts them well on their way.
Damon Ashcroft, Uk

Coldplay's latest album is simply fantastic. The lyrics are heart-wrenching, the guitar riffs are amazing, and there is a definite improvement in the drum and bass section of the band. I loved Parachutes, but I have to say that AROBTTH is on a much higher level of creativity and skill.
Leana L, USA

This album is ridiculous. Best of the year.
Adam, USA

Really beautiful music. Spine-tingling songs with flawless delivery production. This won't be leaving my CD player for a long time.
Ian, UK

I love this new album. Stunning. I can't wait to record the live bits off the radio. I've just started loving Coldplay and I think people are a bit mad not to like this new LP!
Red Fairy, Scotland

This is a superb album!! The Scientist is such a beautiful song and for me stands out. I never thought Parachutes could be bettered, but this group are full of suprises. I just can't wait to go and see them in October.
Dameon, England

I couldn't believe how great their new album would be. I was filled with doubt but since its purchase it has not left the CD player. There are a collection of songs which remind you of everything from first loves to friendship. Both albums are treasures.
Charlene, England

The album is remarkably mediocre. It will no doubt be a very popular record because it references so many other sources, never managing to be unique or inspired.

Granted, there are some nice, innocuous melodies, and a lush production. But it never goes beyond the obvious and is consistently unoriginal. The lyrics especially are laced full of vaguely familiar, non-committal clichs that people will claim are profound - because they could mean anything. Unfortunately, this is the strong point of the album - it sounds like something we've all heard before. In the end, it's material for unsophisticated music listeners who don't have long enough memories to remember where the sounds originally came from.
Alex, England

Absolutely excellent album but just knew it would be, a class act.
Jane Love, England

Blinding!
Barney, UK

Simply stunning. Moving, melodic and The Scientist - lost for words!
David Storey, Manchester

Much like Parachutes, it starts off strong then finishes somewhat weak. And much like Parachutes, the songs that do resonate make this album totally worth buying. A breath of fresh air for the music industry.
Tony, USA

A bit of a disappointment to be honest. All the reviews said it was the new The Bends but I can't hear it. Sure it's all nice and samey (a la Travis) but there's nothing really that grabs you.
Mike, Australia

Beautiful.
Siobhan Qadir, UK
