| Thursday, 16 August, 2001, 15:59 GMT 16:59 UK Coldplay 'snub Stallone request' ![]() Coldplay will be playing at the V2001 festival Award-winning band Coldplay snubbed a request from Hollywood hardman Sylvester Stallone to use one of their tracks in his latest film, according to reports. The Rocky actor approached the British foursome during a meeting in the States, reports MTV. Stallone is said to have asked the band if he could use their smash hit single Trouble in his film Driven, which was released in the US earlier in the year. Drummer Will Champion told mtv.co.uk: "We met him in LA and he asked us if he could use the single.
"It was very flattering but we turned him down because we just didn't think it was appropriate to the film." He added: "We have had quite a few offers but we still haven't decided on one yet." Festival bill Driven, which also stars Burt Reynolds, tells the story of a young racing driver who needs the advice of a former cart champion in order to complete his season. Trouble is taken from Coldplay's bestselling album Parachutes. The band are returning from a tour of Australia to play at the V2001 festival at Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in Stafford. The band were originally invited to headline the event but asked to be moved lower down the bill. Champion told mtv.co.uk said: "We are third on the list now. We didn't want to headline because we have only done one record." The band say their next album will be feature darker tracks than the commercial and critical success Parachutes, which also features the anthem Yellow. | See also: Top Music stories now: Links to more Music stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
