Andy Carroll pleaded not guilty at Newcastle Crown Court
Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has denied assaulting a man in a nightclub.
The 21-year-old is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Michael Cook, after an incident in the city's Blu Bambu club on 7 December.
The footballer entered a not guilty plea during a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court.
His trial, before Judge John Milford, will be held in October and is expected to last up to four days.
Mr Carroll, an England Under-21 international, was voted one of Newcastle United's players of the season in April.
He has had 19 goals in 41 appearances, helping Newcastle United earn their promotion back to the Premier League after being relegated to the Championship in 2009.
