Teesside workers rely on chemistry

The UK's chemical industry has a massive presence in Teesside, with around 100 companies based in the Wilton complex near Middlesbrough.

The 5,000 or so jobs in the complex are all connected, as problems for one company can seriously affect several others in the processing chain.

Speaking to Ian Reeve, the North East Chamber of Commerce's James Ramsbotham said new technologies - especially green initiatives like carbon capture - could help the area in the near future.
