Obama calls for G20 global action

US President, Barack Obama, and Prime Minister Gordon Brown have discussed the challenges created by the global economic downturn.

Mr Obama said there was "enormous consensus about what had to be done".

Gordon Brown said he believed they were within hours of agreeing a global plan for recovery.
