Wal-Mart has been given right to appeal a sex discrimination lawsuit which would be the largest US civil rights case against a private employer. A US appeals court said the world's largest retailer could appeal a federal judge's decision in June to let the case proceed as a class action.
Wal-Mart now has 10 days to organise its appeal for an expedited hearing.
The lawsuit accuses the firm of discriminating against female staff regarding equal pay and promotion.
Filed in 2001, the suit was brought on behalf of up to 1.6m present and former Wal-Mart employees.
