 Suharto has suffered several strokes |
Indonesian state prosecutors have ordered doctors to re-examine former President Suharto to see if he is well enough to stand trial. A court ruled in 2000 that he was unfit to take the stand after suffering a series of minor strokes and other ailments.
But the attorney general's office said Suharto, 82, would be examined again after complaints from the public that he appeared to be healthy.
Suharto, who ruled Indonesia from 1967 until 1998, when he was ousted from power, is accused of embezzling $571m in state funds.
Yahya Rahman, spokesman for the attorney general's office, said no date had been set for the medical examination.
