The World Toilet Organization has launched a campaign to promote clean lavatories. The Singapore-based group has issued a list of recommendations ahead of World Toilet Day on Wednesday.
These includes wiping toilet seats both before and after use, and reporting flushes that do not work.
"If everyone joins in, there (will be) better public toilets and happier people," said Jack Sim, president of the Restroom Association of Singapore.
In the city-state itself, the organisation is calling for comments on public facilities via email or phone text messages.
"Be it brickbats or bouquets, the user should give feedback to the owner of the toilet," the organisation said.

The World Toilet Organization is encouraging other countries to establish their own feedback mechanisms on public toilets.
These initiatives will be reviewed at the next annual World Toilet Summit in Beijing next year.
Singapore puts public hygiene high on its agenda
As the world wrestled with international terrorism at the end of 2001, it hosted the first World Toilet Summit.
About 200 representatives from 15 countries took part in three days of seminars.
In June, Singapore launched a "Happy Toilet" campaign that rates public facilities with a five-star system, similar to the one used for hotels.
