Answering a question about the appointment of Supreme Court judges Barack Obama said he believed the landmark abortion case of Roe v Wade was decided rightly.
He said he believed women were best-placed to make the decision on their own pregnancy.
John McCain then attempted to expose Obama over his voting record on care for foetuses and the rights of unborn children.
