Republican senator John McCain has attacked President Obama's healthcare reforms as "expensive lies".
The former presidential candidate also mocked the description of the landmark package as "historic".
The US healthcare reform law, which extends coverage to 32 million more Americans, passed its final Congress vote by 220 votes to 207.
