Obama: 'A challenge of utmost urgency'

US security agencies had enough intelligence to disrupt a plot to blow up a plane over Detroit last month, but failed to act, US President Barack Obama has said.

After meeting his security advisers the president said the intelligence failings were ''unacceptable'' and the challenge was one of ''utmost urgency''.
