Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says the US had no information to move a Nigerian accused of trying to blow up a trans-Atlantic jet, to a no-fly list.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab has been charged with attempting to destroy a plane after he allegedly tried to detonate a bomb on a passenger jet arriving in the US on Christmas Day.
He had been placed on the lowest-risk list by US authorities in November 2009, after his father alerted authorities about the behaviour of his son.
