Security has been tightened on flights to the United States after a man tried to set off explosives on a plane carrying almost 300 people from Amsterdam to Detroit.
A 23-year-old Nigerian man has been charged with attempting to destroy the Northwest Airlines plane.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is reported to be a student in the UK and claims to have links to al-Qaeda.
