A Nigerian man has appeared before a United States judge charged with trying to blow up a transatlantic passenger jet as it arrived at Detroit airport.
The judge read the charges to the suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, in the hospital where he is being treated for injuries.
ABC reporter Peggy Agar was present as the charges were read out.
