One of the original leaders of the Cuban revolution, Juan Almeida Bosque, has died of heart failure at the age of 82.
He was one of several vice-presidents under Raul Castro, and the only black commander in the Cuban leadership.
Cuba has declared a national day of mourning for Sunday and ordered all flags flown at half-mast.
Michael Voss reports from Havana.
